Professional Experience:
I am a researcher working across environmental policy, climate adaptation, and quantitative + qualitative analysis, with around eight years of research, policy, and operations experience in India, the UK, and the US. My work is grounded in Tamil Nadu and coastal South India, with depth in fisheries, monsoon climatology, and gender and governance.
Most recently I was a Project Consultant with Greenpeace (2024 to 2025), leading research on environmental policy and climate advocacy and coordinating engagement with local communities, NGOs, and policymakers. I produced reports, outreach material, and recommendations drawn from field data, and supported campaign delivery through fieldwork and primary data collection.
Over the same period I was a Research Associate and Policy Fellow with GPODS in New Delhi, conducting policy research on climate resilience and sustainable development in India and contributing to work on SDG implementation. I took part in dialogues with diplomats, UN representatives, and policy specialists, and designed and delivered teaching material on international political economy.
From 2023 to 2024 I worked as an Implementation Specialist at Blue World Ventures in Minneapolis, managing CRM implementation and client onboarding for employer benefit accounts. The role built practical grounding in administration, billing, documentation, stakeholder negotiation, and performance reporting.
My earlier research was scientific. As a NanoSIMS Researcher at St Olaf College (2020 to 2023), working under a National Science Foundation grant, I ran culture and labelling experiments on cold water corals, analysed datasets in R, MATLAB, and Stata, and mapped coral distribution and sampling site geography in ArcGIS and QGIS. I presented at the Ocean Sciences Meeting and the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting in 2022, and am a co author on a 2025 paper in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta.
At LSE I held a Sustainability Research Fellowship (2021 to 2022) examining electronic waste, reuse, and repair in the UK. I designed and administered questionnaires to repair kiosks across London and drafted recommendations for policymakers and the Digital Right to Repair Coalition.
My community work began earlier. With Tree Foundation India in Chennai I coordinated environmental education programmes on plastic waste prevention for schools across the city, building school and community partnerships and training a team of educators and volunteers. Before that I spent a continuous year with the ITDP India Pune team as a Research Assistant on low emission urban planning, supporting the Low Emission Mobility Zones programme through GIS analysis, technical guides, on ground surveys, and stakeholder coordination.
I hold an MSc in Environment and Development from LSE, including a Hilary Term at Oxford, and a BA in Environmental Studies from St Olaf College. My dissertation studied women led postharvest fisheries work and climate adaptation governance in Tamil Nadu, combining 50 interviews across Chennai, Nagapattinam, and Tuticorin with analysis in R of IMD northeast monsoon rainfall records from 1901 to 2025 and CMFRI marine fish landings data.
I work in Tamil and English, with conversational Hindi. My methods include semi structured and key informant interviewing, questionnaire design, primary and secondary data collection, stakeholder consultation, spatial analysis, and policy and technical writing.
