Professional Experience:

Over the last 15 years, Hervé Thomas has held extended assignments in several conflict-affected countries and had meaningful exposure to various cultures while living or studying in Egypt, Germany, Haiti, Jordan, Nepal, Syria, or the United States. Such experiences have endowed him with technical expertise in many areas including:

• Climate change, for which Hervé has undergone graduate training to develop a deep understanding of the forces giving rise to the climate crisis and complement work assignments he undertook in Afghanistan, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and the United States in support of climate change adaptation efforts;

• Food security programming in Afghanistan, Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Iraq, which Hervé and his technical teams have designed to tackle malnutrition and food shortages using high-impact scalable solutions and policy schemes;

• Forced migration mitigation and response which allowed Hervé to advocate for policy changes as well as formulate strategies that offer critical support to and protection for forced migrants in Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Iraq, and Jordan in collaboration with diverse stakeholders such as national authorities, diplomatic missions, donors, and civil society organizations; and

• Health, a field that exposed Hervé to evidence-backed and innovative strategies helping to address gaps in essential health services and promote wellbeing for the most vulnerable communities in Afghanistan, Cameroon, Iraq, and the State of Tennessee in the United States.

Aside from these specialized experiences, Hervé has also lived, studied, volunteered, or worked in Egypt, Germany, Haiti, Morocco, Nepal, and Syria. His experiences in these culturally diverse and politically complex environments have helped cultivate his proven management and leadership qualities. These attributes, coupled with his maturity and demonstrated commitment to cultural sensitivities will allow him to collaboratively build staff capacity while delivering high-quality and cost-effective solutions in support of the mission, vision, and strategy of any organization he joins.
