Professional Experience:
I am a communication professional with over 16 years of experience across the development
and corporate sector.
I have been working with WWF-India for eight years now, leading the Campaigns, Brand and
Media portfolio for the organization, in addition to other external communication including
social media, fundraising communication, design thinking etc. My position here has grown from
the role of Sr. Manager- Central Communication to that of Associate Director- Marketing
Communication.
Working in large organizations across the spectrum and at fairly senior positions has helped me
hone both my management and administrative skills and the ability to get my hands dirty if the
work so requires. Currently working with a fairly young team and in the middle of a pandemic
lockdown has also helped me strengthen my skills at delegation and the discipline required to
remotely manage teams and ensure that work is delivered as per timelines and cost
requirements in these difficult times.
In my time here at WWF-India, I have been responsible in developing the communication and
outreach strategy for the organization and aligning various communication products and
channels to achieve desired numbers for outreach and engagement with consumers. I am the
brand custodian for the organization and it is therefore my responsibility to ensure that all
external communication campaigns, collaterals and messaging is aligned to the brand voice and
fits in with the global brand mission but also retains its cultural context to ensure that we stay
relevant and top of mind for our consumers. Brand research, therefore, forms an important part
of my portfolio and gives me a significant understanding of the Indian market with respect to
issues we work on. I also look at the development, planning, implementation and roll-out of all
conservation and outreach campaigns of WWF-India, including Earth Hour, across various cities
and through the use of multi communication channels and to a variegated audience. This also
entails working within restricted budgets and ensuring timely implementation of plans to
achieve large scale impact with minimum spends. I am also leading the 50 year campaign for
WWF India ( 2019-2020) which entails working with not just all offices of the organization across
the country but curating specific events keeping in mind a diverse target audience, including the
Central and State Governments, partners and donors, local communities, students, celebrities
and civil society at large. I have also been a part of the Asia Pacific Campaign planning team in
2017-18 and worked with offices across the network to ideate on campaigns around
deforestation, Palm Oil, IWT to name a few.
My role ensures that I work very closely both with the teams at WWF-India and specifically in
close conjunction with the SMT and also with the WWF International network to put together
strategies to deliver on WWF-India’s brand and communication deliverables. I am also the
central point of contact for the crisis communication portfolio of WWF India and work closely
with the International Crisis Communication core team to address any external challenges that
the organization might face. I thus work very closely with the CEO and the WWF India Crisis
Management Team to ensure that WWF India is prepared well enough to handle any media
crisis that might arise from any other incident that might occur across the WWF India offices in
the country.
Prior to joining WWF-India, I have had a diverse experience in the communication and brand
domain, ranging from television production to publishing and working and heading
communication portfolios both for an NGO and a Corporate Foundation in India.
