Affiliations and Achievements:
I have researched and co-authored the report, ‘Not in My Backyard: Status of Solid Waste Management in India Cities’, in 2016, which was personally endorsed and released by the former Union minister of urban development (now the Vice President of India), Venkaiah Naidu (https://www.cseindia.org/not-in-my-backyard-solid-waste-mgmt-in-indian-cities-6746). The report and the regional meetings done across India to sensitise stakeholders on the findings of the report let to a paradigm shift towards waste management in the last few years. I have also authored the report on the feasibility of waste-to-energy technologies in India 'To Burn or Not to Burn' (https://www.cseindia.org/to-burn-or-not-to-burn-feasibility-of-waste-to-energy-plants-in-india-9238) . Apart from this, have authored many research papers, reports, briefing documents on issues pertaining to e-waste management, solid and plastic waste and EPR (details attached in resume).

I have also been a part of several national and state level committees constituted on waste management in India and have given inputs in framing policy at the Centre and state level. I have also conceptualised and formed the 'Forum of cities that segregate' which is a unique initiative that helps over 100 cities from 19 states in India to build regulatory and technical capacities of cities in waste management; and highlights the importance of decentralized waste management with focus on circular economy and resource efficiency through in-depth research and advocacy (https://www.cseindia.org/forum-of-cities-that-segregate-8981).

In the Global South, I have worked to create the South-South Network of Countries on Waste Management and am working with Tanzania, Ethiopia, eSwatini, Namibia and Ghana. In Zanzibar, I have worked on demonstrating successful pilot on decentralised waste management and have also formulated the Regulations on Solid Waste Management, 2019. In eSwatini, my team has supported town councils on waste management and have framed the draft integrated waste policy that is under consideration (https://www.cseindia.org/integrated-waste-management-policy-and-legislation-for-african-nations-2017-8327). I have also worked extensively in South Asia ( Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Bangladesh) on environmental risk assessment, waste-water treatment and capacity building of regulators.
