Professional Experience: |
|
This research journey was coupled with rich work experience of working in different projects related to research on disaster and disaster risk reduction. I worked as Research Assistant in the “JNU/University Project of Excellence” on “Climate Change in Western Ghats”. I was one of the authors of the “2018 Kerala Floods: Report on Governance & Legal Compliance”, which was majorly based on the research undertaken for the project. Simultaneously, I also worked in the Network of Asia Pacific Institutes of Public Administration and Governance (NAPSIPAG) situated in JNU in the capacity of Country Coordinator for India. Many institutions from Asia Pacific Countries are members of this network. This gave me valuable experience of organising several international and national research events like conferences, workshops and seminars. We also worked on research publication as outcome of the conferences. It exposed me to international experience and gave me hand on exposure to research collaborations. I was awarded Ph.D. in February and joined Symbiosis Law School, Pune in the capacity of Assistant Professor where I teach subjects like Gender Justice & Feminist Jurisprudence, Research Methods and Legal Writing. I also bagged IMPRESS ICSSR Project on “Law, Gender and Disasters: A Case Study of Bundelkhand”. I wanted to continue with my research interest and wanted to go back to Bundelkhand to explore and conduct in depth research. The project explores and analyses the government initiatives to manage disasters and why gender needs mainstreaming in disaster management. I also regularly write on interjections of law, gender and disasters. I also regularly make presentations in national and international conferences. In my teaching experience of around three years I have realised that it is the research which is my calling and now I want to take the leap of faith and want to explore the possibility of working on research positions in reputed research organisations.

I completed my Ph.D. on “Women in Agriculture: A Comparative Analysis of Selected Villages in U.P. & Punjab” from the Centre for Study of Law and Governance, JNU, New Delhi. It was during my Ph.D., that I developed keen interest in research on disaster. Few of my selected villages were from Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh. Bundelkhand suffers from drought and faulty water governance. I got the opportunity for studying the impact of drought on agriculture and on women

Affiliations and Achievements: |
my course work at Centre for the Study of Law & Governance, JNU has equipped me with sound knowledge of public policy, developmental planning, and global governance. It widened horizons of my understanding of law and its role in society. It also made me well versed in research methodology which is indispensable to carry out an effective research.
