I’ve worked in India and abroad as a teacher, trainer and content developer and as a marketing & communications expert for various organisations both for & not-for-profit and been a part of teams and organisations small and large, ranging in staff numbers of 6 to over a few thousand and led teams of 2 to 25.
I have experience in teaching, strategic planning, public relations, event planning & management, fund-raising, grant writing, presentations and negotiations, market research & promotions, liaising and coordinating between multiple stake-holders.
I have media experience and exposure both in India and the US.As the Regional Director of a start-up crowd-funding platform I established numerous connections and brought in business from the NGO sector.
In a previous role as Branch Manager of a leading not-for-profit support organisation I was constantly evaluating & balancing our vision & mission statement against program support & requests. I kept a close on eye on budgets and used all relevant sources of data available at the strategic and campaign levels to maximize our return on investment. Under my leadership the Branch launched two new events in a previously unexplored city
to enormous success. We raised 20% more than we had the year before to achieve target of over Rs. 2.5 Crore.
As a consultant at Doctors Without Borders (in India) I helped identify vendors to develop its website & social media strategy.
Previously, while working for an online media company I learnt of the workings and challenges of the digital industry.
Aligning internal communications to meet diverse needs and deliver the most effective message is something I have done many times before. As an Indian I understand diversity at a personal level and am comfortable working in diverse environments.
In all my professional assignments I have set targets and deliverable that take cognizance of the macro goals of the organization while keeping in mind the ground realities & constraints. I always try & leave enough room in the plan for contingencies & engage my colleagues in all major decisions and processes - goal setting, problem solving, crisis management or party planning.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching & Learning from "I am a Teacher", a program run in partnership with the Boston Teacher Residency. A 10-month course, the curriculum addresses aspects of education such as pedagogy, policies, practices & laws, child psychology & development, content creation & curriculum building, assessments & evaluation and citizenship. I was a student-teacher for the 6th Grade and taught English, Science & Social Studies.
I have a Masters Degree in Communications and Management from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. The course offered an MBA curriculum with focus on communications across all media, public relations, corporate communications, branding, media relations, production (Audio Visual, print & digital) and event management. I was one of only 3 chosen first from a batch of 30 to complete a 6-month internship at a financial services and media company and also awarded highest-mark of 49/50 for my Paper on “International Marketing Mix”.
I also hold a Diploma in Non-profit Management from New York University. The course focused on communications, accounting and finance, fund-raising, management and
administrative challenges as encountered by non-profits.
After high-school I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, specializing in marketing. We studied economics,
corporate & mercantile law, accounting, marketing,advertising & sales management, brand management, rural & urban marketing.
I've consistently stood within the top 4 ranks throughout school & college and bring the same rigor and dedication to all the professional roles I've undertaken. I believe in constantly learning and growing and will always seek opportunities that take me out of my comfort zone and push me to think and broaden my horizons and limits.
I've been a student of Bharatanatyam since the age of 3 and performed extensively before teaching the art form in the US.
