My current responsibilities are;
• Field surveys
I am involved in field surveys of the research projects. I have travelled to number of districts in Maharashtra for collecting primary data. I have believed that primary surveys form the backbone of a project. Diverse responses to a question give you a deep insight into a problem.
With field surveys benefited by an opportunity to see different habitats.The responses are live and diverse. Some information is to be just observed and noted down thereby not offending the respondent in any possible way. The pitching of questions differently to diverse respondents is also what one learns from the field survey. One also learns to etch out the most probable response from the respondent by wisely asking for the same question differently in the course of the interview.
One of the byproducts of the field surveys is that you collect local dialect and nuances of a place.
• Data entry
The data is keyed in Excel or SPSS depending on the purpose of the analysis. While entering the data ,it gets revised. The lacunae which are latent at the field become clear while entering the data for e.g. discrepancies in village level information, tehsil level information etc.
• Data Analysis
Cross tabulation, percentages, ratios, growth rate, trend analysis, hypothesis testing etc.
