Education:
I am currently at the final submission stage of my PhD in Social Inclusion at the Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion, Manipur University. My doctoral research focuses on the rural livelihood systems of the Poumai Naga Tribe of Senapati District, Manipur. The study examines livelihood transitions, sustainability, and socio-economic challenges through the lenses of Indigenous governance, customary law, and ecological knowledge, using a decolonising and participatory research framework. This training has strengthened my ability to conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, and community-based fieldwork in rural and Indigenous contexts.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I completed a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. The programme provided strong interdisciplinary grounding in development theory, social policy, governance, gender studies, and research methodology. It enhanced my analytical skills and equipped me with tools to critically assess development interventions, welfare programmes, and social inclusion policies, particularly in marginalised and rural settings.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Assam University, Silchar, where I developed a strong foundation in social work practice, community organisation, and social welfare administration. During this period, I gained early exposure to fieldwork, community engagement, and applied social research, which shaped my long-term interest in grassroots development and issues related to livelihoods.
Overall, my educational background combines rigorous academic training with applied, field-based learning. It has prepared me to work effectively in research, programme implementation, policy analysis, and community development roles, particularly those focused on rural livelihoods, Indigenous communities, gender equity, and social inclusion.
