I am a highly organized social worker with critical thinking and possess a positive problem-solving attitude. I have proven to be ethical towards my duty with high client satisfaction.
As part of fieldwork, I have practiced in child, hospital, and psychiatric settings, where I inculcated ways of providing group and individual counseling, conducting detailed assessments, home visits, surveys, community programs, and awareness classes for the development and growth of children,
adults, and community. Daily reports had to be maintained about the learning and how we were able to inculcate the theory into practice. Based on the experience, I have presented a paper titled “Accessibility of healthcare institutions in low socioeconomic families” and published in the book of Rajagiri college Kerala, in the year 2018. This helped me to develop the skill of working as a team
player, cultural competence, and strong communication skills.
In the psychiatric setting, we were trained to record mental state examination (MSE) among the patients and were educated about the types of addiction and different treatments for the same. This is where I learned the skill to be organized at my work, writing reports, and the skill of documentation.
In the three months certificate course, from NIMHANS, India we were allocated with 5-7 patients with special needs and I had patients with depression, OCD, and Autism, we were given the task to read the case history of the patients, help out individuals with the need, maintain accurate records of the progress which was later supervised by our superiors. We worked in collaboration along with the family and other staff. This practice helped me to inculcate the skills of decision making, critical thinking, client-centered approach, keeping things confidential, and being an active listener.
I have 2.5 years of working experience in the child and medical settings where I was able to assess the needs of the children, formulate the diagnosis as per ICD 10 and understood the therapies for psychiatric illness, and execute detailed assessments and clinical interventions with patients and
their families. I was also able to work along with the children with special needs such as learning disability and autism and were able to prepare plans in order to help the children to help themselves in collaboration with their families. I learned to positive problem-solving attitude, and be Empathetic and patient with the children.
In the medical field, I am trained to provide grief counseling and address the needs and complaints of the patients by increasing their satisfaction level with the services provided. Currently, I facilitate and educate the patients about the procedures and their finances, I also find ways to help out the
economically weaker sections with the possible ways and help the organization and the patients gain a higher level of satisfaction. I gained the skill of self-care, keeping my standards and ethics, and
advocacy.
All these experiences were the stepping stones in my professional development, I am seeking a longterm position where I can apply my skills, techniques and positive attitude for the betterment of the
children and their families and to become a partner with a talented team that can help me out to learn and grow more in my field of interest.
