Professional Experience: |
Project Cycle Management: More than 12 years, I spent in direct project cycle management. Successfully developed proposal for European Commission (in 1992) and successfully implemented the same project for 7 years. Day to day project operations, finance as well as human resource management, monitoring, evaluation and donor reporting were the responsibilities discharged.
While working with the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) provided technical support to nearly micro-level project implementers across the country. Provision of guidance in developing implementation plans, support in supervision and monitoring, facilitating evaluations and assisting in donor reporting were the major activities undertaken in this regard.
While with the CHAI provided technical consultancy services to 7 international donors in pre-funding appraisal, mid-term review and final evaluations.
Community Mobilisation: Promoted community based organisations (CBO) of different vulnerable groups and helped them to get federated as well as linked with other civil society organisations. I supported these organisations in emerging as autonomous bodies catering to the needs of the target communities.
Partnership Management: While working with CHAI and in current position, managing sub-grantees has been an important function. Identification of suitable NGO/CBO as implementing partner, providing management support and guiding in organisational development constitute the major responsibilities.
Grant Administration: Gained experienced in administering grants to NGOs for micro-projects. I got familiar with legal, managerial and operational dimensions of grant administration through this work.
Documentation: All through my career documentation has been an important responsibility. Different types of reports such as administrative reports, organisational reports, evaluation reports, base-line survey reports, research reports and publications have been to my credit. Many research as well as general papers have been published in vernacular and in English in regional, national and international journals.
Public Private Partnership: Conceived and I implemented district level health action forum in 23 districts in India. Later I promoted convergence forum at district and sub-district level for pooling together resources and for increased efficiency of programme implementation.
Capacity Building: Like documentation, capacity building has also been an important responsibility all through my career. I have proven record of dealing with capacity building of any clientele group in all thematic areas of social development.
Team Management: But for the initial four years of my career I have been leading teams of variety of composition at different levels all through my career. I am a good team player and a good team leader.

Education: |
Primary training is in Social Work which was completed in 1981 from Kerala University. Later, secured M. Phil. degree in Sociology of Education with outstanding grade in 1988 from Indian Institute of Education (IIE) affiliated to Poona University. Completed Ph. D in Poona University with the ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship. M. Phil. and Ph. D programmes helped me to gain understanding of the methodology of Social Sciences and historical research methods. It also helped me to gain skills in archival works and documentation.
Got trained in participatory evaluation by Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), India and worked as co-facilitator with ICA team to hold participatory evaluation of CARD, a NGO. This training made me competent to hold qualitative participatory evaluation of social development programmes.
Lal Bahadur Shasthry National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussorie trained in monitoring and evaluation of District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) for working with National Supervision Mission of DPEP supported by the World Bank. This training was useful in giving skills to do monitoring of large scale funded programmes in government sector working with a multi-professional teams.
Gained training from CAPART in project pre-funding appraisal, mid-term review and final evaluation.
Underwent training in PRA under the leadership of Mr. Robert Chambers offered by PRAXIS and training in Social Audit imparted by Social Audit Network (SAN), UK.
