Professional Experience: |
At present I manage daily editorial operations for the politics and current affairs desk of the Hindustan Times news website. I lead a team of 10+ sub editors, content producers and senior staff, write and edit news reports, and liaise with print, video, and social media desks to break news and current affairs content and drive website traffic.
Previously, I wrote and edited news reports for NDTV, co-ordinating with reporters across India to collect, fact-check, analyse and present breaking news.
Prior to that I led a three-member team of digital journalists in editing and fact-checking image-driven content for the Microsoft news aggregation website. I ensured content met rigorous quality tests, including adhering to high ethical standards for a global audience. To that end, I created an office-wide error-tracking and reporting system that reduced error rates by over 75 per cent.
I have also led Microsoft India's news aggregation website in data-driven curation of multimedia breaking news and current affairs packages.
In earlier roles - at IB Times and The Times of India - I helped set up an overnight newsroom and coordinate day-to-day ops with editors in London and reported for 10+ weeklies - from tabloid-sized hyper-locals to magazines and broadsheets.
