Professional Experience:
With over twenty-five years of experience in Communication and related fields, I have worked as Senior Editor and Corporate Communication and Internal Communication professional with some of the renowned Indian print, publishing, and electronic media organizations such as NDTV, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (BIG FM), Oxford University Press, Sunday Observer and Media TransAsia. I have been part of several projects such as Greenathon at NDTV, an annual event to raise awareness about critical environmental issues and several radio campaigns to raise awareness about the social and environmental issues.
Currently, working with UN Environment Programme as a Communication and Advocacy Lead to promote the initiatives and mandate of the organization. My work includes Planning and Design of internal and external strategies for communication and outreach; Planning and Design of internal and external strategies for communication and outreach; Development of web content for UNEP for digital engagement; Media Relations, Editing, production of publications and reports; Advocacy and Policy work. I have been responsible for conceptualisation, design and implementation of large global and Indian campaigns.
Before this as a professor, I have taught Communication and Organizational Behaviour to undergraduate and post graduate students which has deepened my knowledge of best practices and theories of communication for organizational branding and effective and efficient communication for maximum impact. Being a trainer for organizational behaviour, team-work, and conflict management in private and public sector organizations, has helped me evolve as a leader and a team player with an ability to easily handle professional and personal conflict and motivate teams to be innovative and high performing.
Education:
I have completed my Masters and BA Hons in History from St Stephen's College, Delhi University. I won the Gold Medal in my Masters for scoring highest marks in Delhi University in my subject. I have completed a post graduate diploma in Journalism from The British Institute, University of London based in Paris and my Post Graduate Certification in Human Resource Management form XLRI. Currently I am currently pursuing my Ph.D in 'Communication for Gender-based Employment Equity from IILM University.
Affiliations and Achievements:
I am a published author of two novels both of which deal with social issues prevalent in India.
I have also written several articles in Huffington Post; Daily O and Quint.
I have been invited as a speaker and author to Jaipur Literature Festival and Bhopal Literature Festival.
I am bilingual and translated several issues of Discover India magazine from English to Hindi.
I am pursuing my PhD in 'Communication for gender based employment inequity in India' and have written a case study and am working on a research paper on Imposter Syndrome.
