Professional Experience:
I have been working in the development sector since 2017, before which I practiced law at various legal forums in India, including the Supreme Court of India. My experience working with an attorney specialising in cases of divorce and domestic violence inspired me to join the development sector, with the goal to work on gender rights. I started at a small local organisaition which focused on child protection, called the Human Unity Movement (HUM), before joining Vatsayla. Here, I worked under Dr. Neelam Singh, heading a PLAN India funded project on Child Protection, with special focus on the rights of the girl child. Under the leadership of Dr. Singh, I also got an opportunity to work on the PCPNDT Act and strive towards the proper enforcement of the enactment. Furthermore, I researched on and wrote multiple grant proposals to secure funding for the organization. I then worked at MARG in New Delhi where, I edited booklets on various human rights related laws in India. These booklets were produced and printed in collaboration with the NHRC and have since been used during various training and capacity building activities. I worked on proposals and program design as well. After MARG, I moved to the UK to pursue a Masters in Gender and Development. I finished my course in August, 2022. I am currently working as a consultant at SAHAYOG, Lucknow. I am a member of the fundraising committee here and am therefore, actively involved in writing proposals to prestigious funders like the UNTF. I am also a member of the Constitutional values domain, which requires me to liaise with various like-minded organisations working on similar issues. Given my command over language, I am also responsible for the process documentation of the organisations’s utilization of the GROW Fund. I am open to new opportunities and, given my experience in the legal profession, in program management and a Masters in gender and development, I will be a good fit in policy analysis, project management and design and various research related assignments. I also have considerable experience in proposal writing and am keen to pursue opportunities in this area.
Education:
I have a Masters (MA in Gender and Development) from the prestigious Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex. I did my undergraduate in Law (BA LLB (Hons.)) from the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal.
