Professional Experience: |
I have 7 years of experience working in development sector in India, including 4 years focused experience in public health domain. I completed second post-graduation in Public health from Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi (IIPH-Delhi) & my 1st master’s degree in social work from the University of Delhi. During professional career, I have taken up challenging roles within the ambit of child protection and public health.
I am currently working with Global Health Strategies, a communication organization (headquartered in New York), to lead a project on the elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis as a public health concern in India. My organization is supporting National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (under Ministry of Health, India), for leading media communication for raising awareness about the disease and adoption of new treatment regimes. As a Senior program associate, with my team, I have led advocacy with state government in various states, for example Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand to draw focus on prioritizing efforts for disease control. My role primarily focusses on engaging media & communication, amplifying political commitment from elected representatives through targeted activities and leading end-to-end planning and execution of workshop, launch events in collaboration with state and district officials along with partner organization.
Previously, for over 3 years I was last associated with Evidence Action (non-profit organization), a technical partner to the Ministry of Health in India. I was managing the northern states of Bihar and Chhattisgarh, funded by CIFF and USAID, delivering quality program designed on evidences of global best-practices of WHO to eliminate the public health threat of worms through a school-based mass deworming program. Since May 2014, my role has expanded as Senior Program Associate to support staff, lateral engagement with teams for effective communication to donor and government; and networking with state government.
I have worked with CHILDINE India Foundation (CIF), a national body executing 24/7 emergency helpline responding to children in need of protection, as a team leader for 2 years. My engagement with partner organizations focused on strengthening response mechanisms of state governments to create child friendly support systems. For a year, I worked with a social enterprise, Earthygoods Foundation, on a project, funded by Axis bank, that aimed increasing visibility of traditional skill-based artisans in market through an online-web platform. I led research to develop robust online directory of over 2000 artisans from the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. I understand the value of being a team player and strives to focus my skills of program management in the field of public health and exploring innovative models within the social sector that are sustainable and scalable.
