Professional Experience:
Key Achievements
- Developed concept notes, proposals, results based management tools, and monitoring frameworks at district, state, national, and subcontinental levels in interventions related to skill building, livelihoods, natural resources management, governance, knowledge and information management, water conservation and management, and biodiversity management, ranging from small-scale projects to multi-million dollar projects for grassroots NGOs, GIZ and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
- Established “Green College” in Aurangabad and further extended it to Pune district with the objective to improve incomes of rural youth through “green skills” that include organic farming, backyard poultry management, and other rural/ agriculture allied skills. This involved the development of course materials in accordance with the local needs and the guidelines of Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), training of the youth, and facilitating the trainees to utilize the skills for income generation. Established mechanisms to measure the progress in outputs and also to keep track of the change in their livelihoods.
- Developed appropriate tools and a framework to measure the progress in outputs and outcomes through monitoring the indicators which are developed collectively by representatives of target groups, field staff, programme managers, technical staff, and representatives of partner organizations. The developed monitoring frameworks have been used for programmes that relate to skill building, income generation, organic farming, and water conservation and management.
- Initiated and facilitated organic farming based livelihood interventions in six states of India – includes promotion of organic farming, formation of farmer cooperatives, skill building, income generation activities, and establishment of markets.
- Been in the Governance Board or consultative committee of national and international networks such as URGENCI – the international network of Community Supported Agriculture with its Headquarters in Aubagne, France, International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), and PGS Organic Council of India.
- Established the first Information Management Unit in the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Persons of the Government of Afghanistan with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to develop synergies and monitor outcomes of projects that target persons with disabilities (particularly the hearing and visually impaired persons).
- Strategized the first e-Parliament project in Sri Lanka as a part of UNDP support to ICT4D in Sri Lanka.
- Facilitated the establishment and operation of a unit for coordination and monitoring of NGO activities in response to disaster particularly for tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Sri Lanka – soon after the tsunami of 2004.

- Key evaluator representing National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to assess the water conservation and management works undertaken by the government in Aurangabad and Akola districts of Maharashtra state, India.
- Undertaken surveys to assess the challenges for the inclusion of children from low income families in formal school education system.
- Principal Investigator in a government supported research project to document the native landrace crop varieties of Maharashtra state in central India
- Team Leader in an assessment of Organic Agriculture Policy and its impact on farmers in Maharashtra conducted by Action for Agriculture Renewal in Maharashtra (AFARM) – 2014.
