Education:
My highest academic qualification is a post graduation with distinction in Defense & Strategic Studies from University of Madras. I received the degree of Master of Science on completing this course in 1993, with a score of 77% marks. The course had a spectrum of interesting subjects that included international relations, global economy, geopolitics, peace & diplomacy, strategy, tactics, operational art, logistics, intelligence, staff duties, administration of personnel and management of resources. The utility of the course was manifest throughout my career in various staff and command assignments, more so during my assignment a decade later as the Indian Defense Attache in Czech Republic.

I had also obtained Postgraduate Diploma in International Humanitarian Law in 2016 through an online course conducted by National Academy of Legal Studies and Research, India. I took this up with the aim of joining a humanitarian organization after retiring from Indian Army. I have a 62.5% score on this course.

My graduation education earlier was at the National Defense Academy, Pune, India from 1975 to 1978, where the academic course ran concurrently with the three year long military training. I received Bachelor of Science degree on completing the course. My schooling was also in a military backdrop, at Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, India which was under the patronage of Ministry of Defense. I completed my Higher Secondary Certificate in 1975, with 69% marks.

Besides these, I had attended about a dozen military training courses during my 37 years in the Army. These courses embraced subjects like military command and leadership at various levels, tactics, intelligence, administration, logistics, resource management and staff duties which had secretarial content; besides, I attended courses in gunnery and weapon technology. These enhanced my horizon of knowledge in a significant manner and built me up as an all-rounded personality, ready to take on any kind of task not just inside the Army but in many fields of activity even outside the military.

One such course I attended was the Interviewing Officers Course. Qualifying on this specialist course was a prerequisite for posting as an Interviewing Officer in the Services Selection Board that is responsible for identifying, selecting and recruiting potential officer candidates for the Indian Army. The course had a sizeable content of psychology and personality assessment, which I found to be quite interesting. It also had an internship component wherein the trainee interviews 60 candidates under the guidance of a qualified Interviewing Officer. The course not only helped me in my assignment later as an Interviewing Officer but also built up lasting skills in me in carrying out quick and correct assessment of people in any walk of life.

Prior to my assignment as Defense Attache in Prague, I also qualified with distinction in the Certificate of Proficiency examination in Czech, scoring 95.2%.
