Education:
I studied Community Organisation and Development Practice at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (Batch of 2016). The course has equipped me with what I consider the ability to understand, analyse and develop effective solutions to the various development problems that plague our nation today. Being a social work oriented course at its core, we were taught to understand human issues but within its larger socio-political and economic context. Research, both qualitiative and quantitative was an integral part of the curriculum which oushed me everyday to think about the why and how of things, to always look beneath the surface.

During the 2 years of my Masters Degree, I have also interned with organisations and institutions of different orientations. A block placement with Kudumbashree helped us see the implementation of PRI in a state which is considered to be the best in that area. We were able to have an in-depth understanding of the implementation of the Livelihoods Mission as well as its impact upon people's especially women's lives.

Some of the development issues that we focussed on during our masters were Rural Development and Governance, Sustainable Development and livelihoods, socio-legal dimensions in development practice, urbanisation, social action and advocacy, Business Plan Development for Social Sector, Programme Planning and Management, Disaster Management, Research.

What I value most about the education that I received which in turn has shaped me into the professional I am today is that I have been able to understand development as both, a problem and a social, which is grounded not only by theory but also through personal experiences of working with and for people who have been misfortuned by it.

Hence, it has helped develop in me the value of conducting a complete analysis of the situation/the problem at hand before diving in and searching for solutions.
