Professional Experience:
I have assisted and individually worked on developing training modules and curricula, organizing capacity building workshops for government officials, promoted youth empowerment & leadership, developed strategic and operational action plans, design, implement, monitor and evaluate behaviour change communication strategies, facilitated the state level and national level trainings, developed IEC material and documented best practices.
I have recently completed a stint with Miditech (pioneers of modern Education-Entertainment Education in India); wherein I worked with their creative team to develop content that can push the boundary of EE programming.
Prior to this I was involved in a consulting assignment with Centre for Development and Disaster Management Support Services (CDDMASS) for a study on Base of Pyramid in Mumbai.
As part of a 2 year commitment I worked as a Senior Message Design Officer, managing the implementation of a UNICEF and GOI initiated entertainment education telenovela - “Kyunki Jeena Issi Kaa Naam Hai....” based on UNICEF’s Facts for Life programme. The aim was to promote pro-social modelling, by bringing about behavioural change among parents and other caregivers by means of information using innovative pedagogies to save and improve children’s and mother’s lives, safeguarding adolescent and young people from getting involved in risk behaviours.
As part of the project I designed content on issues such as- Girls Education, Nutrition and Growth, Gender, Early marriage, Domestic Violence, Women Empowerment, Child Protection and Child Trafficking, Children With Special Needs, Family Planning, Safe Motherhood, Child Development and Early Learning, , Breastfeeding, Immunization, Social Exclusion, HIV/AIDS, Hygiene and Sanitation, Diarrhoea Management, Malaria prevention, Disaster Management etc.
The project gave me ample opportunity to work with 7 of 8 of UN’s MDGs and I through it I also developed a thorough understanding of the various GOI’s flagship programmes namely RTE, RTI, NRHM, RCH NACP, Aanganwadi schemes, JSY, SSA, NREGP, TSC, Complete Immunization to name few.
Prior to this project, I was working with US-AID for the first ever bilateral capacity building initiative in Disaster Response in collaboration with the GOI.
As part of this project I was involved with and responsible for capacity building of district administration and line department officers in Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat in Disaster Response trainings by the name of Incident Command System.
I have also facilitated in developing Curricula on Disaster Communication and Civil Defence with the help of some of the senior most mentors in Disaster Management. In addition, I was part of the study team for the Tsunami component of the Early Warning Study; and for the Incident Response System Guidelines released by NDMA in 2010.
