  • Government/Governance, Reforms, Corruption

Professional Experience:
I have undertaken academic projects on various domains of water, education, land, GST, and urban governance. My student internship under Professor Narayana A, wherein he was working on project by Government of Karnataka to review Cadre and Recruitment Rules of Bruhat Bangalore Municipal Corporation (BBMP) involved providing research assistance. The most important learning was the understanding of how a municipal corporation is structured and how it works. The summer internship and winter field engagement, undertaken as part of post graduation, were based on quantitative analysis. Summer internship was in fact a complete impact assessment of provision of water on tribal population in Andhra Pradesh. My internship in Atal Bihari Vajpayi Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis gave me some experience for working in government sector.

I do not have a work experience in the strictest of all senses. However, I believe that all my volunteering and internship work has given me considerable experience.
Education:
I am currently in my last semester of Masters in Public Policy and Governance from Azim Premji University, Bangalore.
One important question to ask is, are the policies even present? If they are, then how do we explain the existence of the above-cited problems? How it that the policies are not seem to be working? Is it a design issue or is it an implementation issue? By pursuing a post-grad in Public Policy and Governance, my aim was to understand how to formulate policies that may work, how to improve implementation and how to rectify any existing policies. When I joined this course, I hoped to get an understanding of various fields ranging from food security to defense, so that once I have completed the course, I may be able to work in any field of my interest. Secondly, I had also hoped to narrow down on what was in fact my field of interest. On both these points, I am satisfied with my work till now.
I have undertaken academic projects on various domains of water, education, land and urban governance. And out of these, I found urban governance and sustainable urban development to be resonating with my interest the most. I realised this interest during my student internship under Professor Narayana A, wherein he was working on project by Government of Karnataka to review Cadre and Recruitment Rules of Bruhat Bangalore Municipal Corporation (BBMP). The most important learning was the understanding of how a municipal corporation is structured and how it works, a real time lesson in urban governance.
Then my December field engagement in 2015 on bringing out the problem of polluted open storm drains in the city of Delhi, made me realise the importance of maintaining natural environment with the growth of city. If the natural heritage is lost, then a city will become a cesspool of concrete and will die soon.
We have also learnt various tools of conducting program evaluations, from survey designing to data analysis. I have some experience in this respect, from my independent field engagement and impact assessment in summer internship.

My undergrad was B.Sc.(H) Chemistry from University of Delhi.
