Professional Experience:
I have been reporting for television since 1994, making me among the first generation of broadcast news journalists in the country.
I have an academic background mix of History, Mass Communications and International Relations from Delhi University, Sofia Polytechnic and the London School of Economics which have all influenced my career spanning over two decades during which she continues to report on a range of issues-from environment to national politics, from human rights and conflict to her real forte, world affairs.

My current assignment focuses on reporting in SAARC region, on mulitateral, bilateral ties in South Asia, elections,politics, Jammu and Kashmir and domestic politics. While i cover key diplomatic events and anchor prime time news and debates, I am currently
part of in-depth field reporting team for 'India Matters' -issue based long form news reports on identity, politics, governance, human rights and socio-economic faultlines within India from states like Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.
 
Previously I have been NDTV's New York Bureau Chief from Jan 2003 – Feb 2007 where my assignments included US politics, covering the United Nations, India-US relations and the South Asian diaspora. I also have skills in research, camera and scripting for documentaries. My documentary projects included 'Race and Islam in America' (May 2005) and 'Sikh Pioneers of California' (November 2005).
 
My landmark assignments include Reporting live from Cairo within 48 hours of eruption of Pro Democracy protests in January 2011 turned violent, reporting live from New York City on 9/11, and follow up stories on the aftermath in the USA, surviving an LTTE suicide bomb blast targeted at Chandrika Kumaratunga in December 1999 at an election rally in Colombo, Sri Lanka and reporting from Sierra Leone in the midst of a hostage crisis during civil war in May/June 2000.
 
I have received several awards and honors including two Ramnath Goenka awards for excellence in journalism in 2012 and 2014.
