I am Kaushik Kumar, currently appointed to the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation along with Tata Trusts for effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). Initially, I was posted in Nanded district (which was one of the poor performing and high burden district) to support District CEO and the current institutional mechanism in terms of Project management, capacity building, and advanced administration support with an objective of access sanitation for all. Through innovative Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) strategies, plans and major policy shifts, in a period of four months, the district was able to provide access to toilets to more than 2,00,000 Households and was named as one of the best performing district in Maharashtra - A transformation from an erstwhile high burden district into best performing district in the state.
I was the first to be featured in the success story case studies conducted and published by Tata Trusts and the Government of Maharashtra has also felicitated me for exemplary contribution.
Deputation to the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Delhi –
I was also member of the core team of the ministry of drinking water and sanitation to inculcate and facilitate the culture of Innovation within the sanitation economy through developing, conceptualizing and hosting a national wide Hackathon for sanitation named Swachhathon.
Deputation to State Office, Maharashtra
Currently I am deputed at the Water and Sanitation Support Department (WSSD) of Maharashtra state, working on ODF-Sustainability, ODF+ and state level Hackathon, which will also include forward linkages of innovations to incubators and accelerators and do pilots across Maharashtra, so that there may be a tangible outcome, which can be assessed.

Masters in Water policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. This course offers diverse aspects of water, may be urban supply, financing water projects, ground water and surface water management, water pollution and management, watershed development, GIS, Water regulation, Legal aspects of water, Water conflicts, rural water access and sanitation and public policy etc. It generally focuses on the government policies, their rationale and critical understanding of those policies and breakthrough strategies. It has also helped us to understand research in whole through qualitative and quantitative research subjects and develop critical view and understanding. The course also offers extensive field works in all the aspects of water policy, may be sanitation/open defecation free, water supply like 24*7 water supply in urban areas and jalswarajya schemes of Maharashtra for rural areas, watershed development and ground water mapping etc. I have Bachelor's in Environmental Engineering .
