Consultant – MiraCradle - Neonate Cooler; Pluss Polymers, Gurgaon; Jan 2015 – May 2015

• Identified numerous marketing opportunities like national / international awards, grants, conferences etc. for promoting MiraCradleTM – Neonate Cooler (a biomedical innovation developed by the company for treating birth asphyxia by inducing therapeutic hypothermia).

•Identified sources of potential stakeholders through extensive data mining.

•Reached out to 700+ stakeholders who included national / international neonatologists / government / influencers / decision makers through mails, telephonic conversations and personal interactions for promoting the product.

• Standardized appropriate written communication for different stakeholders.

• Researched and collated information on recent publications on therapeutic hypothermia for treating birth asphyxia from low and mid income countries via NCBI

Junior Research Fellow, April, 2008 – July 2008; Ph.D. Student, July 2008 – January 2015; Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

Ph.D. Thesis Title : “Study of the moonlighting functions of mycobacterial DNA binding proteins” under the guidance of Prof. H.K. Prasad, Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
Moonlighting or multitasking is the ability of proteins to perform two or more biological functions. The study investigated multiple moonlighting functions of two DNA binding proteins of M. tuberculosis - HupB (Rv2986c, a histone like protein of M. tuberculosis) and CmtR (Rv1994c, a cadmium sensing transcriptional regulator of M. tuberculosis) by using innovative approaches.

A.RESEARCH SKILLS: Cell culture: Maintenance of various suspension and adherent cell lines, transfection; immunology: immunostaining, flowcytometry, fluorescence microscopy, Western Blotting, Dot blot, ELISA etc., biochemistry & molecular biology: recombinant protein expression & purification, SDS-PAGE, plasmid DNA isolation, agarose gel electrophoresis etc.. Microbiology: Experience of working in a BSL 3 laboratory throughout PhD. Culture of pathogenic (M. tuberculosis), non pathogenic mycobacteria (M. smegmatis, M. bovis BCG) and E. coli strains, CFU assays with M. tuberculosis.

B.OTHER SKILLS: Proficiency in MS office like Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; data analysis via statistical software like GraphPad Version 6; data management & presentation skills, problem solving skills through innovative approaches, project management and networking skills.

C.TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP: Conducted immunology practicals (2008- 2014) for Master’s in Biotechnology students at Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi

D. Advised four Master’s in Biotechnology students for their dissertation with regard to planning, designing, troubleshooting and standardizing experiments as well as thesis writing at Tuberculosis Immunology Lab, Department o
Education:
I completed my Ph.D in tuberculosis Immunology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in January 2015. My Ph.D thesis was on investigating the ‘moonlighting’ functions of mycobacterial DNA binding proteins. The training provided over the years at the Department of Biotechnology, AIIMS not only deepened my understanding about tuberculosis pathology but also fuelled my passion for public health and polished my analytical, research & communication skills further. Being a part of a laboratory where research on TB ranged from molecular diagnostics to assessment of novel recombinant vaccines; I developed an ever inquisitive spirit to keep myself updated about the recent discoveries related to tuberculosis diagnostics, prevention (new recombinant vaccines) and control (novel treatment modalities). I have completed my Master’s in Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Bachelor’s in Microbiology from University of Delhi.
Affiliations and Achievements:
• Composed and recorded a song - I wanna STOP TB!, 2015.
• Street Starzz Calendar Dog 2014, 2014: Photographed, designed, and created Street Starzz Calendar Dog 2014 (SSCD-2014) – a calendar featuring beautiful pictures of street dogs of India. This was an endeavor to raise awareness about street dogs which received a positive response throughout India
• Social and Cultural Secretary, Executive Committee, Society of Young Scientists, AIIMS 2008-09
• Awarded Best Outgoing Student, Sarojini Bhawan (Girls’ Hostel), IIT Roorkee, February 2006
• President, Microcosmos – The Microbiology Association of Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi, 2003

• Received Junior Research Fellowship from ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research), 2006
• Qualified the CSIR UGC - NET examination for lecturership, 2006
