Professional Experience:
As a recipient of the Graduate Scholarship award at Syracuse University in New York, I was employed at the Graduate Admissions Office which dealt with coordinating the Graduate admissions process over 200 degree programs among the various departments and colleges at the University. In retrospect, this job was the beginning of my journey in working in a multi-cultural environment and helped hone my cross-communication skills which is an invaluable asset in today’s professional environment.

Upon returning to India in 2005, I joined a startup IT company in Bangalore – Stridus Infotech. Startups pose a challenging environment in terms of limited resources and extra working hours but it also presents opportunities for learning and professional growth. The three and a half years that I spent as a Project Manager at Stridus Infotech, was a perfect start to my career as it allowed me to be actively involved in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) starting from Project evaluation and conception to implementation and end user support. While I was involved in a wide variety of roles at Stridus Infotech, my main responsibilities included Project Management, Client Management and Training.

A deep rooted passion for social development has been the catalyst in my decision to make the bold transition from the Corporate IT sector to the Non-profit sector. In 2008, i took up the position of Director at Field Services and intercultural Learning (FSL-India), a non-governmental, non-profit organization collaborating with international networks to promote social development and intercultural learning through Volunteering and Youth exchange programs. The decision to join an NGO is one that I will always cherish for the reason that my work was my life. The job allowed me to utilise my expertise in Project/Program Management for the implementation of Community Outreach programs and internationally funded Volunteering and Youth exchange programs. I was able to demonstrate and further my passion for starting new programs at FSL-India by initiating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships, Student Exchange programs, Social Enterprise projects, Youth Development programs and establishing an in-house Training Center. The opportunity to liaison with 70 international partners across 25 countries, represent FSL-India at international conferences and network meetings allowed me to put in practice the cross-cultural communication skills that I gained starting from my education in the US.

This unique background which encompasses the Corporate and Non-profit sector has given me the opportunity to understand the working culture across both sectors, which I believe is crucial to the synergy between the sectors in implementing CSR.
Education:
Having completed my formative years of education in the Middle East, I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka.

Following my Bachelors degree, I chose to enroll for a Masters degree in the US and was accepted in the Master of Science program in Telecommunications and Network Management at Syracuse University, New York. The course allowed me to explore a wide variety of subjects ranging from Telecommunication Policy, and Project Management to Microeconomics, and Network Security. My education in the US was a life changing experience as it presented learning opportunities beyond the confines of the classroom which to a large extent helped in my personal development too.

During the course of my career, i have taken up Professional Development courses in Volunteer Management, Training for Trainers, and Developing Cross Cultural Awareness.
