Area of Expertise:

Professional Experience:
I started my writing career in my early college days as a stringer in a local English daily, 'The Eastern Clarion', where my weekly column on relationships was highly appreciated by readers. This sparked my decision to make a career in print journalism.

In 1996, as I awaited my graduation results, I joined the 'North East Times', an English daily published from Guwahati as a Reporter cum Sub-editor.

After a year here I joined the leading English daily of the North-east, the 'Sentinel'. This is where my career got a real push, single-handedly managing the sports page and later Page 1.

Meanwhile, during this time (in 1998), I published my anthology of poems 'Tears'. Although the book had a very small print-run, it was well-received.

In Delhi since 2001, I had a brief stint as a web writer with Encyclopedia Britannica, after which I worked on Doordarshan News’ official website, ddinews.gov.in as content manager for over four years.

Subsequently, I joined India's largest B2B portal, tradeindia.com, as the Head of Content and Editorial where I conceptualized and facilitated the launch of the first website in India for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) named 'SME Times'.

At Tradeindia, I was in charge of the weekly Exim Newsletter and social media campaigns of SME Times.

During this time I found a new love – travelling. My blog 'Travel Hungry Souls', where I regularly pen my extensive travel experiences, today, has many avid readers.

My love for travel led me to conceptualize and execute a plan to create a platform for travelers in the form of a database of homestays. Owing to the execution of this unique concept, in 2008 I was featured in 'Dare', a magazine for entrepreneurs. The website was later acquired by Singapore-based TripVillas Pte. Lte, the company that runs the largest vacation rental website in Asia.

Just before the Commonwealth Games in 2010, I commissioned a one-of-its-kind Delhi Guide which included write-ups by a team of professional writers. The concept of 'a city without hotels' is wonderfully depicted in this 300-plus page guide, which has over a thousand verified listings for travelers visiting the city.

Today I’m associated with TripVillas where I’m the Editor-in-Chief of the online magazine, Holiday Home Times, another first, being the only website dedicated to holiday homes and homestay owners in India. Currently, I’m working on completing my debut novel by the end of this year.
