NETWORKING :My work at VIKSAT from 1985-1996 was essentially was on a campaign and networking mode. In the area of community forestry the team at VIKSAT for which I was the head from 1989 onwards were involved in networking with NGOs and Government departments, producing communication materials (videos, print matter, newsletter, guidebooks and training materials), conducting training programs and workshops, project development for NGOs. VIKSAT team served as the secretariat for the Joint forest management in the state. The team also served as the secretariat for the people institutions networking in community forestry within Gujarat and for India as well. VIKSAT served as a regional resource agency for the National environment awareness campaign (NEAC) for the states of Gujarat and Rajastan and the program involved both government and NGOs. FAIRTRADE: My work with Fairtrade International since 2007 is founded on promoting/supporting sustainable agriculture though market intervention. Hence I am quite exposed to sustainable agriculture concepts and practices especially in the field as I have been interacting and providing training to the farmers groups for the last 7 years and learning from them too. FT standards cover environmental conservation and social equity as well as economic progression. COMMUNITY OWNED ENTERPRISE: I have set up the Gram Mooligai co ltd from conception to serving as the managing director from 1999-2007 which is a producer organization registered as a public limited company owned by self help groups. Hence I am thoroughly experienced in setting up of producer organizations and the nuances in the market access. BIG PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION: As Coordinator at FRLHT I was running the exsitu conservation of medicinal plants program with an annual budget of Rs 20 million and funding 18 NGOs in the states of Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Thus I am competent in project assessment, its implementation and monitoring and scaling up. This program evolved as a medicinal plant conservation network (MPCN). Together with the NGO partners one program component called the kitchen herbal garden program was scaled up to 0.1 million gardens in a two year span. POLICY AND STRATEGY: Having worked in senior positions for nearly 15 years I have first hand experience in planning, policy formulations; strategizing; fund raising; public relations; media relations; scaling up programs; working with both Government and NGOs; team building; general administration etc. EXCELLENCE: Gram Mooligai was one of the ten social ventures selected by World Resource Institute in its maiden venture in India. Viksat has won the top award for its contribution to forestry sector. I have won the world wide competitive Biodiversity Conservation Network Award and undertook research on community led forestry program. I have participated in international conferences by the virtue of paper contribution and selected for presentation. At Fairtrade Inter
