Professional Experience:
Throughout my career, I have been committed to quality through operational rigour. In the British Council I had the opportunity to coordinate for the all-India English Partnerships team on contract management, stakeholder engagement account management and business development across India. Working in the international Teacher Educators Conference organising committee and on the partnerships team has honed my skills on vendor management, sponsor management, financial management and project management coordinating with various geographies. This along with my previous experiences on business development, budget planning, account management and relationship management has given me better access to more opportunities in the development sector.
I have developed a partnership framework for my current team and I believe I would be able to leverage this. While I would benefit from my already existing networks and relationships I am looking forward to engaging with organisations who can mutually benefit from working with the British Council. My work with the British Council and before with Naandi Foundation has made me resourceful for working with government machinery and funding agencies and the Trusts and Foundation Landscape.
In my earlier role I was also leading multiple initiatives to bring in best practices of different NGOs like Parisar Asha for content, Teach for India for teachers and Akshara Foundation’s spoken English in the Naandi program. This has strengthened my networking skills as well as helped me understand how to bring the different organisations to work for the common good without compromising the organisations strategic vision. Securing and managing a budget of £ 3.6 million and implementing large scale programmes has strengthened my relationships with donors and funders.
Having joined British Council I have played dual roles on partnership. As the head of English Partnerships in West India I had to build and foster strong relationships with the senior government stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and more opportunities. I also increased the overall profile of the British Council through active engagement with government partners and effectively implemented projects amounting to £ 350,000.
As Head Partnerships for English, I worked towards building the strategy for engagement with partners on an all India level. Responding to the challenge of capturing the needs of the partners or potential partners, I developed a partnership mapping template to ensure effective communication with them. In this role I was also able to familiarise myself with the contracting and procurement processes to ensure partnerships are legally framed and mutually agreeable and have had a coordinating role for the all-India team on contracting. (eg Pratham Strategic alliance).
Having led the UK India English Partnership forum and Sponsorship for the international Teacher Educator Conference I have developed a better understanding of the internatio
