Professional Experience:

Post graduating from Business school in 1992 I joined the financial sector in India in the area of fixed income ( debt markets ). My first assignment was with Nucleus FInancial Services Pvt Ltd, a boutique investment and financial broking company based in Mumbai. I spent a little over 2 years with them in their corporate sales division learning to sell financial products to corporate clients. In October 1994 I moved to Ashok Leyland Investment Services Ltd ( ALIS ) which was again in the area of corporate sales and institutional brokerage in the fixed income market. After a successful stint of more than 4 years with them I moved on to another company called Mata Securities India Pvt Ltd where I worked in similar functions for about a year.
By July 1999 I had the opportunity to work with a multinational finance company Merrill Lynch in their India outfit called DSP Merrill Lynch Ltd. This company is a power house both locally and internationally in the areas of fixed income, investment banking, equity broking, wealth management and asset management. I joined them to lead corporate sales within the fixed income business. Post 2006 I moved on to head multiple other businesses for Merrill Lynch in India in the areas of principal investing and commodities.
After having spent more than a decade with Merrill Lynch in India I finally parted ways with them in December 2009 to take a sabbatical for about 6 months. Post the brief sabbatical I rejoined the industry with Edelweiss Capital Ltd, a upcoming financial super market in India. After a very brief stint with them of 5 months, the entrepreneurial bug got to me and I decided to start a financial consultancy business along with a friend and ex colleague from Merrill Lynch. Currently I along with my partner run a boutique investment and corporate finance advisory company called Gateway Investment Advisory Pvt ltd which offers consultancy to corporate clients on resource mobilisation and High Networth Individuals on investment management.
