Professional Experience:
I have been a Peace Messenger and International Ambassador representing India to the UK for the program year 2005 – 06 through ICYE, an International Intercultural Organization. As an active participant, I experienced a rich cultural youth exchange and got the first hand opportunity to meet participants from around the globe. As part of my project placement, I was placed at a residential school called “The Burton Hill School” Malmesbury, an establishment run by the Shaftesbury Society, London. It was a great learning experience to take part in the daily lives of the physically and mentally challenged children whose severity ranged from mild to profound.
After successfully graduating from the exchange program, I returned to India and joined ICDE-India as a General Secretary, the host organization. I contributed my part as a board member in the office whist seeking right challenges elsewhere.
In 2008 I was directly recruited as a Social Worker by the London Borough of Lambeth. Lambeth was a vibrant place to work where I have enjoyed working with diverse groups and various ethnic minorities ranging from the European continent to the Caribbean to the South Asian to the African communities. It was an amazing experience to be part of Lambeth’s children’s work. This was a truly rewarding and highly professional job where I was given a great deal of responsibility in bettering the lives of children and families within the social care system. I was given a thorough induction, quality supervision, shadow work experience before I knocked on the ground.
My work typically involved in providing a comprehensive social work service to children in need and / or looked after in care. My role also involved to undertake initial and complex assessments of children and their extended families in need using assessment frame work. I worked in partnership with peers across the service such as the NHS, HM Court Services, Children panels, Local Authority Safeguarding Boards and so on. Depending on the outcomes of the assessments, the Local Authority have the right to take action within the legislative framework to ensure that children were protected from risk of significant harm. I was directly involved in preparation of evidence based applications and unbiased reports to court and to represent the Council at court in relation to this.
Managing my caseload whilst carrying out administrative chores was deeply integrated in my role without which the bureaucracy would not be progressed producing innumerable reports and lengthy written work for various meetings, court hearings, child protection conferences, etc. I am well versed in technology and office based tools efficiently which is evident from my previous job.
I am cheerful and confident communicator who has built positive relationships with clients, colleagues, managers and stakeholders. I take my work passionately and I have a proven track record of result oriented work experience.
