Animal lover -After months of lobbying we secured permission and space from Jamia Millia Islamia administration to set up an ABC/AR facility cum veterinary first aid clinic on their campus for conducting a mass ABC Programme for Stray Dogs & Cats. Lovanimals has taken up implementation of Animal Birth Control programme for Stray Dogs & Cats at Jamia Millia Islamia University New Delhi 110025 with two objectives: • To put an end to the human-stray dog conflict. • To spay/neuter and vaccinate dogs & cats living on campus and around the areas surrounding the University campus. To address the growing dog population on and surrounding the JMI campus premises Lovanimals had launched an ABC-AR programme by entering into a pact with the University administration following which land with basic infrastructure (Old Canteen Building with electricity & water supply) in place was allocated to our group for the establishment of ABC-AR facility for conducting the surgeries. A Structural Renovation was carried out which included Painting, building enclosure/fencing, construction of dog kennels etc. The cost of which was borne by Lovanimals to make conditions favorable for surgeries & treatment of animals. Staff consisting of a Veterinarian, Facility & Accounts Manager, a Para-Veterinary worker, a Catcher/dog handler & a helper was hired by our organization. Additionally a vehicle for transportation of strays was engaged by our organization as we do not possess a vehicle of our own. The equipment’s and medicines were loaned to us by another organization with which we entered into a pact on 21st November following which they agreed to assist us for a period of three months.
