Respected Sir/Madam,
Namaste…!!
My name is Dr. Balu Natha Mote, I am born and brought up in Mumbai, and my native place is Nimbavade, Tal Atpadi, and District Sangli. I have completed my Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from Mumbai. I have also completed my Masters in Public health (MPH-SE) from Tata institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. Since Last 6 years after post-graduation, I have been working in area of Non-communicable diseases. Earlier, I worked as a project officer for Foundation for Research in Community Health (FRCH) on diabetes project running in rural area of Pune.
Now, I am working with “National Health System Resource Centre” as a “National Consultant – CP and CPHC (Community Process and Comprehensive Primary Health Care” where I look after effective implementation of “Health and Wellness Centres across the country. Under community process unit, Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC), we have interdepartmental-convergently linked with “Swatch Bharat Mission (SBM)”. Under SBM, we also mobilize community at village level and behavioural change towards adapting healthy and good practices such as use of toilet, sanitation, plantation, compliance to treatment etc.
Earlier, before joining at National level, I worked for state government of Maharashtra as “State epidemiologist (State Programme Manager) – non communicable diseases” in NCD department. I was responsible for overall planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of different activities and achievement of physical and financial targets planned under all programme such as NPCDCS (national programme for care and control of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases & stroke), National tobacco control program (NTCP), national programme for health care in elderly (NPHCE), deafness (NPPCD), NPPC (palliative care), NMHP (mental health), NOHP (oral) and NPCB (blindness). I was also part of assembly session where we have come across many legislative question based on relationship between underground metro and cancer, relationship between mobile tower and diseases etc. Therefore, I am aware about the environmental health hazards and their ill effects on human being.
Now, my area of work is implementation of Comprehensive Primary Health
Care (CPHC) part of Ayushman Bharat under which government of India is
committed to transform of 1.5 lakh Sub-Health Centers and Primary Health
Centres into Health and Wellness Centers. Under CPHC-NCD, GOI is rolled out
NCDs 7th package i.e. Population Based Screening where each and every
individual 30+ age would be screened for diabetes, hypertension and three common
cancer such as oral, breast and cervix cancer at sub-centre level and treatment
services is provided at the door of vulnerable population of our country. Under
CPHC subsequently focus will be on Continnum of care through HUB and SPOKE
model.
Qualitative and quantitative research is also my area of interest. I have
