Workshop on identification of contextualized indicators to measure SDGs in India
The 4th Wheel Supported by Swedish Institute

Greetings!

It's my pleasure to invite you to our workshop which will showcase best practices on indicator identification and impact evaluation on 15th December in Mumbai. The workshop is supported by the Swedish Insitute.

The UN World Data Forum advocates the important role data and statistics will play in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It is believed that shared goals and metrics among stakeholders will provide a coherent narrative for action, mobilize all actors involved in a particular area, galvanize the community to develop clear strategies for implementation, raise the levels of available finance and spur innovations and technologies needed to implement them.

The workshop will bring together development practitioners involved in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating social programs in India.

Group work will involve reviewing the global indicator framework developed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs), with a focus on SDG 3-Good Health and Wellbeing, SDG 4-Quality Education and SDG 8-Decent Work and Economic Growth. This will result in an open source document defining key indicators, which must be considered while working on programs related to health, education and skill development.

The workshop aims to highlight the importance of collecting and tracking appropriate data for the SDG agenda to succeed. It shall help to create a good list of contextualised indicators as proposed by development practitioners and sectoral experts, and will promote the idea of effective monitoring and evaluation systems.
