The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute with funding support from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI is inviting proposals for Shastri Institutional Collaborative Research Grant. Applications can be submitted by any members of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Institutions of good standing either from India or Canada. 

This is a new initiative under the Xth Addendum to the MoU with the Government of India. This category of Research will be between Indian and Canadian Institutions for a period of two years in the areas in which Indian Institutions can benefit from Canada (vis-à-vis). Application can be made by any member of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute either from India or Canada, but must include a partner in the other country (India or Canada) who has to be necessarily from a member institution of SICI.
 
THE NEED AND THE OBJECTIVE
To encourage and promote Institutional collaboration in research and development between Indian and Canadian Institutions in the areas in which Institutions from SICI’s Indian and Canadian member council can gain and develop.
 
BENEFITS AND EXPECTED IMPACT OF THE PROGRAMME
  • It is expected to fill the information gap for policy makers and others influencing the policy-making process;
  • Research findings are shared with stake holders; and
  • It is expected to generate interest and create awareness among students and the public in the focus areas Energy-including the Renewal Energy, Agriculture science/ Technology, Environmental Sciences, Teacher education and training,, Health sciences l Education and Nursing, Marine Sciences and Ocean Studies, and the Institute in its broader ambit also includes vocational education and development areas as specified in the Xth Addendum of the MoU.
  • Apart from the above mentioned focused areas the research theme will also build on issues concerning all domains of studies: Social Sciences subjects, STEM subjects including Food Security and Sustainable Development; Water Resource Management; Gender and Health, Bi-lateral Trade and Investment; Energy and Environment; securing future of children and youth and higher education-mobility.
